Introduction
After many years teaching in social work education and supervising social workers and human service professionals both individually and in groups, Jane began to question the value of supervision and her own approach. She started looking for alternative approaches, which would take her beyond social work and challenge her own habitual ways of thinking and conducting supervision. In 2006, she began training as an executive coach with the Institute of Executive Coaching Australia. Since then, what she has learnt about coaching, social work supervision and herself has transformed her approach to supervision. Using solution based frameworks and critical reflection, based largely on people's needs and preferred styles of working, her approach is informed by what writers such as Eckhart Tolle, refer to as our state of being, and the view that relationship is the heart of coaching and supervision. Developing conscious awareness and deep knowledge of ourselves, beyond notions of our identity as supervisors or professionals can significantly improve the quality of our work.
This interactive, practical workshop is for people who are interested in taking their work to another level but are unsure how to do so.
